It’s Reel Rock Time once again!

Every fall Boulder, Colorado is the launching ground for another season of chills, thrill, and spills in the climbing world when Reel Rock debut’s their film lineup before hitting the road to visit the rest of the United States and World. This year viewers will be treated to three short films, each one focusing on a different aspect of the rapidly expanding world of climbing.

Starting hot right out of the gate the film The High Road introduces Nina Williams, one of the best boulderers in the world. Putting up lines that make her counterparts nervous as she pushes boundaries and makes all hold their breath, hopeful she does not peel off. Focusing on routes that routinely take her several stories off the ground, the film puts viewers up close and personal as she enters the gripping no-fall zone.

In the United States of Joe’s a group of rag-tag punk-rock climbers come face to face with a community of Mormons, cowboys, and coal miners and each must learn how to cope with the other. The film focuses on each group’s efforts to make amends after years of issues and find common ground in a remote corner of Utah. It is a microcosm of the split occurring in America these days and it offers hope that maybe the divide can still be breached.

Lastly viewers are taken deep inside Alex Honnold and Tommy Caldwell’s attempt to take back the speed record on one of Yosemite Valleys most iconic routes. The Nose Speed Record, much like last years Free Solo, focuses on Honnold’s obsessive attention to detail and what it takes to be the best. Layered on top of that is Caldwell’s worries about pushing the envelope too far and the possible consequences of any mistakes.

As an added bonus this year all attendee’s will be among the first to see the trailer for Reel Rock’s upcoming top secret feature film that promises to be memorable.

Tickets are on sale now for the shows October 17 and 18 at the Boulder Theater.
