In this video our gear expert Lauren show you how to repair a pole on the Coleman Montana 12 tent. She starts out with why you need to know how to repair a tent pole, what repair gear you need – hacksaw, file, tape measure, tape, needlenose pliers or multi-tool, and a repair kit – and then she demonstrates the repair process, so watch it above for all the details. How to repair a broken tent pole step-by-step: 1. Measure the size of your poles to determine what kit you need. 2. Fish out the elastic cord out of the pole using the needlenose pliers, untie or cut the knot, remove and set aside the broken segment. 3. If you haven’t cut off too much, keep the elastic for later use, or cut a new length of cord. 4. Compare the original damaged pole to the spare pole from your repair kit. 5. Mark the correct length using the tape, then carefully cut through the pole using a hack saw. 6. Gently file around the edge of the pole to remove rough edges. 7. Wrap a small piece of tape around the end of the elastic to make it easier to thread, then thread it through the pole. Remove the tape and anchor it with a knot. 8. Thread the elastic through the rest of the pole segments, remove the tape on the end and tie a knot – then you’re all done!
